I took the kids to the Children's Discovery Museum yesterday. With no scheduled activities this week (except packing, which I should be doing, but am avoiding) we have had a lot of time to fill and the CDM it is an excellent place to spend time.
We completely lucked out - the new exhibit is Curious George, which the kids and I both love. The PBS show is a big favorite with everyone (me included) and we are slowly acquiring many of the books, since Riley especially loves them.
After exploring the Curious George room, we had some lunch. That was where I somehow managed to cover myself in mustard after rushing Riley to the bathroom. Despite asking Riley several times while standing in line, it wasn't until we settled ourselves at a table that he started shouting "I HAVE TO PEE" repeatedly. So I grabbed him, nearly knocking over the condiment station on the way to the rest room and took him to pee. And I still had to change his clothes, because while he made it to the bathroom, we had a bit of a directional issue and pee ended up pretty much everywhere but the potty.
We skipped the waterworks area, because I had already used up Riley's change of clothes. And spent some time exploring the second floor. But after an hour I had to call it quits. I kept getting random whiffs of mustard from my encounter with the condiment station which turned my stomach. Plus I knew that it would take at least an hour to leave. And I was right. The kids had to play in the ambulance, carriage, and fire engine before we could get in our car.
