Riley @ 18 Months

I took Riley to see the new Dr. K. for his 18 month check up this morning.

He is 32" (40th percentile) an 23lbs, 8oz (18th percentile). I was glad to see that the downward trend in the weigh gain has reversed.

He managed passed the development portion of the exam as well. But it was a reminder to me that Bryan and I need to pay a little more attention to what he is doing. When Megan was a baby, we got a little obsessive with her development milestones. And with Riley, we have gone in the opposite direction.

Dr. K. asked how many word he could say, and I told her 25, but that was a guess. She asked if he could make any animal sounds, and the answer is no. I don't think it would occur to Riley to make an animal sound, since it never occurs to me. But he can make a tower with blocks, I tested him on that last week. So we were good on that one.

I also has Dr. K look at Riley's crooked pinky toe. I've been fretting over it for several weeks, and encouraging Bryan to fret about it, so I wouldn't have to fret alone (Bryan declined to fret, and chose to tease me about my toe obsession). But Dr. K, instead of telling me that it was nothing to worry about, referred Riley to a podiatrist. Do yourself a favor and don't Google Clinodactyly.
