School Lunch

Last week I finally finished the paperwork to sign Riley up for school lunch.
His daycare doesn't do the food prep on site, they have an outside company cater it.  At $3.75 per lunch, it isn't something that he will get every day, but every once in a while it is nice to have a break from packing him food.  So far he seems to really like the french toast and eggs choice.  And despite the fact that he loves spaghetti at home, he wouldn't touch the school spaghetti.  So I've crossed that off the list for future lunches.
We have also settled into a school lunch routine with Megan.  She gets to buy lunch two times a week.  Her lunch is only $2.75, a bargain compared to Riley.  In September and October she would buy pizza on Wednesday and a corn dog on Friday.  But the menu changed in November and corn dogs are off the menu (thank goodness) do she gets pizza and a grilled cheese sandwich.
I'm getting school lunch too.  My job subsidizes a lunch program for Faculty and Staff.  It works out to about a $1.25 every day.  It is a benefit for which I am very grateful.  It is hard enough to pack the kids lunches in the morning.  I'd hate to have to deal with mine too.  The food is quite good and I now get to have a salad with my lunch every day. I really like salad but never seem to have it at home, so it is a treat to have at work.
Of course, it is nothing compared to what Bryan gets at his job.  But we all can't be so lucky.
