Today Megan turned 7. And she had a wonderful, wonderful day.
In the days and weeks prior to her birthday, Megan started sharing all the plans she was making. She decided that for her birthday she wanted pancakes for breakfast and for both her dad and I to take her to school. And she also wanted to open one present in the morning, and save the rest for after cake. She wanted a packed lunch with a treat and a birthday note. And she wanted to go to After-school, so her spanish class could sing to her. Then she wanted to walk home from Appleseed instead of taking the car. And she wanted to pick what we ate for dinner and have a cake with pink frosting for dessert.
I admire her ability to decide on a course of action, plan to make it so, and enjoy the fruits of her labor. She definitely didn't get that from me. We did everything she wanted, and she positively glowed all day.
Here is a video of us singing Happy Birthday.
She went to bed that night, tired and blissfully happy.
