Anyway, he did a surprise ultrasound to check on the baby's growth. Which is fine. But it was a rather pointless test, in my opinion. Once you get out of the first trimester, the accuracy just isn't there. The measurements he took have a margin of error of 21 days. My midwives had the clinical experience to feel my belly to sense growth. And I suspect that they had the same (or less) margin of error. Can you tell I'm feeling a bit grumpy about my OB?
Right now our little jellybean is in a breach position, but it is still early and there is still weeks for him to flip. But of course this means that there will be yet more test to make sure. Argh.
We also found out that it was not normal for the diabetes clinic to not respond to my weekly e-mailing of blood sugar reading. I had been sending them in for over a month with no response.I had assumed that no response meant that everything was OK, since that is the general standard with lab results. But after the 3rd week, it was starting to feel a little odd that they never even acknowledged the receipt of the information. I had brought printouts of the numbers to the appointment so someone could look at them. Dr. M thought that the numbers looked great, more indicative of insulin resistance that full out diabetes. Not that that makes any difference in the treatment. And he promised to ping the clinic to make sure I got a response.
I did finally hear from the clinic that night. They hadn't received my weekly reports, but she looked at the papers I dropped off and said I was doing great. And that I should eat more vegetables. Which I don't know how to do, unless I start eating them at breakfast too.
Only 60 odd days to go.
