Gavin got some kind of yeast infestation in his mouth, so Maura gave him some gentian violet to treat it. If you haven't seen it before, it's got quite a vivid and lasting purple color to it, so most of Gavin's face (and much of what he stuck in his mouth) were dyed purple for the rest of the day.
