Denny's

Bryan is leaving tonight for a week in NY, so for a treat we took the kids out.  Both of Megan and Riley love eating at restaurants, so they were excited.  We asked if there was anywhere they wanted to go.  But it was a pro forma question.  The answer was Denny's.  The answer is always Denny's.

I personally don't love the food at Denny's.  But I totally understand why the kids love it.  The children's menu was designed by a marketing genius.  It is the same stuff that you see on children's menus everywhere, but at Denny's it looks exciting - the online menu doesn't doesn't hold a candle to the glossy outer space theme menu that the kids study at the restaurant.  These days they go for the Smiley Alien pancake, although the Stars and Moon chicken nuggets were a favorite for a while.  Megan desperately wants the drink that is on the menu, but her mean parents will only order chocolate milk.

Mostly when we go, I miss Friendly's.  An other thing not available in California.  (I really need to start working on a list of things only available in California).  But it was still a nice outing.
