Megan the Good Citizen

A couple days ago, Megan's teacher e-mailed me to let me know that Megan would be awarded a certificate for her good citizenship at the February school meeting and she hoped we could attend. Students are chosen for their "contributions to the classroom to the classroom community." Or as Megan later told us, "for starting your work quickly when your teacher tells you to, and being a good person, and following the rules."

Megan didn't know ahead of time that she was getting an award, but as soon as she noticed her father and I standing on the sidelines, she began to suspect that something was going on. Still, I think she didn't quite figure it out before her name was called. She was very shy and serious going up to collect her award and shake hands with the principal. Later in the day, all of the good citizens got to eat lunch in the Learning Center with the principal. (Who I have to say, is the most glamourous looking elementary school principal I have ever met.)

It was a very exciting and proud morning for us.
