For the birds

Megan's been asking for a bird feeder recently (I think she got the idea from a Curious George show), so I hacked something together for her today. It's low and simple enough that the kids can put in bird food by themselves.


The scrap materials I made it from have some history - the mahogany is from the Nantucket house decking and the screws are from the lake house float. I don't know what the screening is from, but I must have been carting it from house to house for 10 years now. This all reinforces my belief that we should never throw anything away. Hopefully the birds like it.
