Halloween #4

Despite this being their 4th halloween celebration, the kids were very excited to go out trick-or-treating. We certainly got a lot of mileage out of these costumes.

We had made arrangements to go out with group of neighbors. But after visiting the first house Bryan and I both agreed that it wasn't going to work out. Riley, who was trying to hold his costume together and hold out his treat bag, was getting pushed aside by bigger kids in their mad dash for candy. We peeled off from the group and went off in a different direction by ourselves.

We hit 10 or so houses and Riley was done. We couldn't get him to take a nap at all, and he was pretty tired. And he wanted to eat his candy. So Bryan took him home and Gavin and I stayed out a little bit longer with Megan, who wanted to do more trick-or-treating and find her friends again.

We never found the original group, but halfway up the block we ran into Cathryn, Megan's favorite friend from school. We trick-or-treated with her family until we reached their house and the Megan was done for the night. She wanted to go home and eat dinner. She didn't even want to stop at any of the houses on the way home.

After we all got in, we handed out candy for an other hour or so. We blew out the pumpkins and turned out the lights.
