I hate our dishwasher

Yesterday's dish washing routine was:
  1. Wash the dishes
  2. Run the dishes through the "dishwasher"
  3. Wash the dishes again
These days, it is normal that our dishes come out of the dishwasher dirtier than they were when they went in. The glasses are the worst offenders. I think every one had this sandy crud in the bottom of them - despite the dishwasher being on the poorly-named "pot scrubber" mode. A couple of the kids' bowls had what looked like fresh oatmeal still in them.

We complained about the dishwasher when we first moved in, but the landlady basically said it worked fine for her, and we just needed to pre-rinse more. Somewhat more recently it stopped turning on (or off), depending on how abusive you were willing to get with the controls. We had high hopes it would be leaving until the handyman came over and put back on whatever had fallen off. On the bright side, he did apparently tell them that it was on its last legs.

We complained a third time this past week, pointing out that a fair number of parts had actually rusted off the dish racks. This seemed to do the trick, the property manager said she is now researching a replacement. I have my fingers crossed.
