Prenatal Care

I called my the OB practice in my medical group today.  I have an appointment at the end of October, when I will be 8 week along.  And in my quest to be flexible, I ended up with an appointment with a male OG/GYN.  Bleh.

I'm feeling nostalgic for my old, old OB practice, in Northampton.  I miss the midwives.  And I really don't understand why nurse-midwives are not more common.  But the only practice in the area I could find with CNM, doesn't seem to take my insurance.

I also got an answer to my question about prenatal vitamins.  I've been taking a regular multivitamin, but I was hoping to get a script for the prenatal I took with Riley.  It was ungodly expensive, but it didn't make me gag, and I felt pretty good while I was taking it.  But this new practice recommends getting an over-the-counter prenatal vitamin.  Which I didn't know existed.  I though you have to have an RX because of the extra iron and folic acid.

But since I was on my own I did some research and settled on Rainbow Light Just Once.  Since I have no desire to start hunting through natural food stores to find them, I took the easy way out and ordered them from Amazon.com.  Some of the reviews referred to them as horse pills, but I'm really hoping I can swallow them easily.
