Must Remember: Turn on light- Every time

Compared to Megan, Riley has a very simple bedtime routine.

In addition to the bedtime staples (PJs, teeth, and stories) Megan has 6 babies that she sleeps with who must be gathered every night from the far flung corners of the house and arranged properly in her bed.  She must have cold water with ice. And god forbid you ever try to give her water from the bathroom.  And then, after she is technically "put to bed", she will call one of us up for some reason and make at at least one trip to the bathroom.

Riley is simple. PJs on, breathing treatment, nursing, teeth brushed.  We take him to his room, turn his white noise on, read a few books (I can't believe I ever though board books were long), turn out the light (Riley gets to pick which appendage he uses to turn out the light, hand or foot), and in his crib he goes.  He snuggles down on his tummy with his sippy cup of room temperature water and falls asleep within minutes.

Tonight I managed to mess up that simple routine.  Sunset isn't until 7:30, but Riley gets put to bed around 7.   It was still pretty light in his room this evening and I forgot to turn on the light.  We his read stories.  When we finished, I realized that the light wasn't on, which meant that it couldn't be turned off. Eh, I thought, Riley is pretty easy going-I'll just put in in the crib.

Mistake.  "Nonononono," he cried.  "Light foot. Memememe."

I didn't even make it to the door.  I turned the light on, I took him out of his crib. And we started over.  Or from the middle at least.  Books, light out (with his foot), bed and sleep.
