I've noticed a trend in Riley's emerging vocabulary that differs from what I remember of Megan's. With Megan, she had 'mommy', 'doggy', and a few others that seemed relatively benign. Riley knows these words as well, but there are a number of others that Megan learned only later. For example, he's quite good at saying 'no' and 'mine', the former he hears from us at least once an hour, the latter is useful when interacting with Megan. He can also say cookie, chip, pizza, juice, mmm, yuck and TV. We clearly haven't been as diligent steering him away from the junk food as we were with Megan.
On a related note, we took the whole family to see a movie today (Horton Hears a Who). It was Riley's first movie in a theater, and he did great. He sat either on Maura's lap or on his own chair, and was pretty much quiet and attentive the whole time. Clearly our daily TV-watching regimen is paying off. (seriously, though, we only let the watch PBS and Noggin. really!)
