I'm thankful that we had her party yesterday and could have an easier, quieter day today. After breakfast (eggs, sausage, and raisin toast) we sent her on the hunt for her birthday presents.
In Riley's room she found a butterfly tent kit (a play tent, sleeping bag, flashlight all packed inside a purple butterfly backpack. Of course, she wanted it set up right away.
I gave her a copy of Besty-Tacy. And Bryan and I bought tickets to take Megan to see a ballet of Snow White that afternoon. Bryan has another present, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.
She spend the morning playing. We let her open a couple of other presents, including a LeapPad from her grandparents which she was thrilled about, despite her reluctance to actually tell them on the phone.
In the afternoon we dropped Riley off at friends and took her to the ballet. She loved the ballet, but I'll save that for an other post.
The evening ended quietly. She requested chicken nuggets and mac & cheese for dinner, but did not want to blow out birthday candles again. We were planning to let her stay up as late as she wanted, but she asked to go to bed at 8:30. Not surprisingly, she slept in the tent.
I think that 5 is sitting very well on Megan. I can't wait to see what the year brings.
