Party Preparations

It seems like the last time it rained around here was January. Despite this, the forecast is now calling for rain starting around noon today. Megan's party starts at 1, so now we have a complication. Fortunately most of what we were planning is portable, but it's still vexing. This would have been a real problem in Tuckahoe, at least we have the playroom here. Maura and I were wondering if the forest fire a couple towns away is part of the cause by putting more particulates in the air.

I spent last night drawing a big butterfly on posterboard. The idea is that the kids will first color it in, then we'll hang it up and they'll play pin the antenna on the butterfly. Maura spent the evening baking flower-shaped cupcakes. This morning we'll need to finish up by cleaning up inside (in case it rains) and outside (in cast it doesn't).

On Thursday night I put together a photo collage of Megan's first 5 years, very much like we did last year. We printed them out, and pasted them onto a poster so she could take it into school. Here are the photos I used:
