TB or not TB

On Monday I took Megan to get the remaining immunizations that she will need for Kindergarten and a TB test.  It was a less than fun experience.

First of a they changed the TB test on me.  I had told Megan about how I got a TB test when I was a girl (Megan loves hearing stories about when Bryan and I were little) and how it was shaped like a square.  And I thought it was called a TV test and wasn't that silly.

But you don't get the little pricks anymore.  Instead the nurse sticks a giant needle in you arm for a looooooooong time.  And if you are a kid who who doesn't like shots it lasts at least twice as long as your ability to hold yourself together.

And then we found out that she needed three more immunizations - Polio, DTaP , and Varicella (which I still think is a stupid vaccine).  It broke my heart a little to sit with her through the process.

During the last 48+ hours, Megan has announced at least once an hour that four shots were too many.  And that she never want to get four shots again.  And next time maybe she could just get one shot.

Today I had to take her back to get her arm checked so we could get the require piece of paper proving to the California school system that she doesn't have TB.  I had to tell her three times that there no shots today (and explain that if we didn't go today we would have to redo the shot) to get her in the car.

So Megan doesn't have TB and we are now in procession of an up-to-date immunization record. Once her school gets a copy, they will assign her to a classroom.
