Yet Another Trip to the Doctor

This morning I started to pack Riley's bag for the Y, but midway through I stopped and called the pediatrician instead.  I can't really say what it was that made me decide that he needed the doctor.  There was just something not right with his cough.  (When ever I get this feeling, the inarticulable "something is wrong" I think of Miss Cavel)

We didn't get to see our regular doctor, since she doesn't work on Wednesdays.  And we didn't get to go to our regular location, since the doctor with the soonest availably was in the Cupertino office, which we hadn't been to before.

Driving to a new place around here is a challenge. All of the major streets are divided which means that you can often see where you want to go, but it is on the opposite side of the street.  So you get stuck driving away from your destination until you can find a stop for a U-turn.

Today, I had to drive past the office to the next turn, but discovered that I couldn't make a legal U-turn and ended on the highway having to wait until I reached an exit to I could turn around again.  Not exactly the simplest way to get from the westbound side to the eastbound one.  Luckily this is pretty common and the receptionist was kind when I arrived a few minutes late.

But I digress.  Riley has an ear infection and junk in his chest.  The doctor said that he didn't have pneumonia, yet. (Pneumonia hadn't been anyway on my radar.) But the good news is that she thought the asthma, which was I was really worried about, was under control.  He is on 10 days of antibiotics for the ear infection and to keep the fluid in is lungs from growing some bacteria of their own.  And we are to call if there isn't no improvement in the next couple of days.
