Reading

I haven't get much time to update the blog in the past week.  I've spent my spare time either sleeping (trying to recover from my cold) or reading.  More reading than sleeping for the past few days.

In an effort to actually use the gift cards we were given at Christmas rather than horde them.  We went to the bookstore a couple of weeks ago.  While there I picked up The Golden Compass. Bryan and I saw the movie at Christmas-time; it intrigued me enough to want to read the book.

And what a book it was.  It took me about a week to finish the first book in the trilogy, because I was sick and Riley was sick and to be honest, the first half of the first book as bit of a slog. It picked up.  And I found myself racing through the last two books, reading in every free minute I could find.  But the good news is that I finished the third book this afternoon and should be updating on a more regular basis.

And the other good news is that Megan is interested in reading again!  For many months, she has resisted reading, with us at least; I don't really know what she is willing to do at school. But I picked up the first set of  Bob Books for her whilst at the bookstore.  And she is really enjoying them.  She has read through the first 5 books, all by herself.
