Vote Early, Vote Often

I took the kids to the polls today so I could vote in the California primary. We always take the kids with us to vote. I think it is important to install the habit of voting as early as possible.

As we were walking home, Megan and I talked about presidents, and what their job is. I told her I was hoping that Barack Obama would be president. Megan cheerfully told me that she knew that George Bush was president. I told her that I didn't think that George Bush was a good president and I was glad that his turn was almost over. Megan asked me why he wasn't a good president. And that was a tough question. How to you explain the disaster that is George W. Bush to a 4 year old?

I ended up telling her that GWB wasn't a good president because he didn't think that he had to follow the rules like everyone else.

Later that afternoon we were playing a game called President Soup. Which as far as I could tell involved declaring yourself to be a president and running around in circles in the yard. Megan was George Washington. I was Bill Clinton. And Riley, well Megan decided that Riley could be George Bush. Because Riley doesn't listen either.
