Our house in Sunnyvale is great...with a couple notable exceptions. The kitchen is one, and particularly our spice storage is pretty crummy. To help, I made Maura a small spice rack to hang on the side of the cabinet - it's a weird sized space so we couldn't find one in the stores. I put it together, sanded, stained and put a coat of polyurethane on it last weekend, but I didn't get back to the second coat until this weekend. It's made of birch, with simple through-dado joins.Unfortunately, we picked a stain that's too red, so it doesn't match the cabinets very well. It's also not taking advantage of the space as well as we'd like - if I made it deeper it might be able to hold all the spices. So, I will likely spend another day in the near future making Spice Rack 2.0.
