I took Megan to see Dr. K for her 5 year well visit. Megan weighs 38lbs and is 105cm (41+inches). She had a vision and hearing tests, both of which she passed.
Megan had a little bit of a freak out when we when into the exam room and the nurse showed Megan the gown to put on. It was the same kind that the Surgery Center used and I think Megan had a flashback or something. She started crying, panicked that she was going to get more shots or something worse. So held her on my lap and I told her that she didn't need to wear the gown, she could get checked out while wearing her clothes. And I promised her that I would never take her to get an operation without telling her first.
Dr. K was running late (unusual for her), so we have a fairly long wait in the exam room. But for once I didn't mind. Megan cuddled on my lap and we read all the books in the room together. It is so rare that she and I get one-on-one time together.
Megan is on track developmentally. She still isn't dry at night, but we don't need to worry about it until she is 6. We have a new nasal spray to try for her ever goopy nose, and we may go back to see the ENT this summer. And we are going to take Megan to see a dermatologist to track her moles. They didn't alarm her pediatrician, but given the family history, Dr K. thinks that we should keep an eye on them.
All-in-all, it was a good visit.
