Notes from the Allergist II

I took Riley to see the allergist, Dr. M, for a recheck today.

Riley's chest X-Ray was fine and his lungs sounded perfect.  There is apparently still some fluid in is ear, which we will need to get his pediatrician to check out before we leave on our big trip.

Riley displayed his typical medical personnel behavior, calmness and cooperation so remarkable in a child that every doctor we have ever seem has commented on it.  Dr M. was no exception, apparently he had never seen a child Riley's age open his mouth and sick out his tongue as soon as the depressor appeared.  Megan, with the exception of shots, is the same way.  Actually, I should stop here, lest I jinx myself for future visits.

Dr. M and I talked about Riley's meds.  We have the OK to bump down to Pulmicort 1x per day or we can try Flovent (and inhaler!) 2 puffs 2x per day.  I'll pick up the inhaler tomorrow and we'll give it a whirl on Sunday.

We are going to go back for another check in August.  If Riley does well with the lower dose of inhaled steroids, we may be able to take a break from mid-August to October or so.
