Riley the Scavenger

This afternoon Megan made herself a sandwich for lunch, which I don't recall her ever doing before. A nice, peanut butter and jelly sandwich that she ate a little bit of before getting distracted by something in the playroom. She came up a short while later to find Riley, in the family room, polishing it off in front of the TV. He looked quite pleased with himself, and when asked he said it was quite good. Megan, on the other hand, was decidedly less happy.

Shortly after Riley went up for his nap, Maura made Megan a replacement lunch of eggs and toast. She ate about a third of it and left the rest lingering on the kids table in the kitchen. Riley woke up about two hours later, and within 10 minutes he had found and eaten the remainder of the second lunch. He carried the empty plate in to show Maura like a little flat trophy.

This evening Riley struck a third time. While Megan was (once again) distracted, this time watching a nature show, he stealthily ate all her steak. He also ate all the peas right out of the bowl, managed to eat some of Megan's replacement steak, and weaseled a gogurt out of Maura. In fact, the only thing he didn't eat was all the rice he dropped on the floor, which is too bad, because I could use someone to help me clean up.

Plus, he's much cuter than a dog.
