I got out the kids of the house today. We met some friends at the neighborhood park. Normally we walk, but this time drove so we could bring Megan's bike. Since her big bike riding breakthrough a few weeks ago, Megan has been a somewhat reluctant to ride her bike. She still required extra help to start pedaling, and it frustrated her that she couldn't do it all by herself.
But we had another breakthrough at the park today. Megan's friend Allison starts her bike by pushing off with her feet and then pedaling once she is coasting. I pointed out that technique to Megan and it worked very well for her. She can now get on her bike and ride around at will. And if she has to stop, she can start back up by herself. She is a very happy biker now.
We had breakfast for dinner again, eggs and toast and sausage. They eat so much more dinner when I serve breakfast food. They each ate two eggs and several pieces of toast. I think is possible that Megan ate 3 pieces of sausage. I may make put this in the regular rotation.
And while the kids were eating I watched the tow trucks haul away the two cars that were involved in a collision in the intersection by our house. (No one was hurt, but the cars were severely damaged). I've realized that I have called or interacted more with the police in the 11 months that I have lived in California that any where else. Just an other odd aspect of our lives here.
Bryan gets home tomorrow. And I could not be more glad.
