We hadn't really planned for the middle of the night contingency, so we were in a bit of bind. The kids were already asleep, and Riley at least would throw a fit if we moved him and then left him. Fortunately, our friend Monica offered to come stay the night with the kids and bring them to school the next day (she apparently had them dressed and fed by 7am, which is better than we can manage). I think Maura tried to tell Megan we were leaving, but it wasn't clear she was conscious enough to really understand her. After some car seat wrangling we hit the road, and by 11:30 we were at the hospital.
I think we both assumed that once there, they'd hook Maura up to some stuff, labor would shortly commence, and we'd be done in a few hours. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. They did hook Maura up to the pitocin around 1am, and then we waited. And waited. The nurse came in around every 30 minutes to up the dosage a bit, but Maura's body seems to be scoffing at whatever the medicine is trying to do. After a little sleep, a lot of pacing, and 9 hours have passed all we've managed are some feeble, inconsistent contractions, which is about where we were 9 hours ago. So, we're still waiting.

And we're waiting too.
