At 6 years, Megan is 41 lbs and 43.5 inches. In the last year, she grew 2.5 inches and gained two pounds. Her height and weight are following the same curve, and her height/weight ratio is right at the 50% line. Oh, and they took her blood pressure too, for the first time: 100/68.
Megan was in a weird mood (very goofy and shy) so Dr. K. hard to work hard to get Megan to answer development questions (where do you go to school, what is your telephone number, can you read and write, etc).
We talked a little about nighttime dryness (or rather the lack there of). Dr. K. gave us a hand out with some suggestions and if Megan is willing, we will try some tonight. But it was reassuring to know that there are a lot of kids who have trouble with this and that they all out grow it. I have to say that it used to bug me more, but somehow in the past year I have let go of my expectations. When Megan and her body are ready, I believe this issue will resolve itself.
We also discussed Megan's constantly running nose. While it has gotten much better since her adenoids were removed, she still seems to be leaking mucus 3/4 of the time. And the other day she told me that some kids at school were teasing her about it, which broke my heart. Dr. K. wants us to try some allergy meds. We have Astelin, which Megan hates because it leaves an awful taste in your throat. But Bryan and I prefer it since it is local rather than systemic. But if we can't be successful with a nasal spray, we may try Claritin or Zyrtec. Although, I really don't think she has allergies, since we had her tested last year and she was fine. It may be that we end up back at the ENT.
