We Have a Name

Bryan and I (or maybe it is just me...) aren't like other couples who seem to be able to select a name for their baby as soon as the pregnancy is confirmed.

I feel that I need to meet my children before I can name them.  A person's name is something that they will carry with them for the rest of their life.  It is really important to me that we get it right. That we find something that captures what we know of them so far and all that we hope for their future.

So without further ado, our new son's name is Gavin Elliott.  He will share Bryan's last name. While none of my children share my last name, they obviously share so much of my genetic material, there will never be any doubt that I am their mother.

I hope that when Gavin grows up, he finds that his name suits him as well as his father and I think it does.
