OB Visits 36 weeks

At my OB appointment last night, my initial blood pressure reading was alarmingly high.  It came down a little over the course of the visit, but my doctor was still very concerned.  He was told us that he was tempted to us to the hospital that night to induce. But he ordered a boatload of blood tests and let us go home with the instructions that I was to relax and come back in the morning for another blood pressure check.

The check this morning was also not good,  so he has put me on bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy.  I can't go back to work. I'm also going to have to monitor my blood pressure at home (we have added a home blood pressure monitor to our collection of medical devices) and have frequent non-stress tests.

We had our first non-stress test late this morning.  And I have to say that the baby and I did very well.  I would even say that we aced it.  My blood pressure was normal the whole time and baby's heartbeat was normal, when the nurse could find it.  Baby Jellybean continued with its contrarian streak, and kept moving away from the monitoring equipment.

When I go for my next visit, I think I am going to try to see another doctor, because Dr. M does stress me out.

On the brighter side, I also saw my gestational diabetes clinician today.  As far as my blood sugars are concerned, she think I am doing great.  She told me I was an A+ patient, which so wonderful to hear.  I was feeling like such a failure after seeing the OB.

So for now we take it day by day.  This is definitely not how I thought this pregnancy was going to go.

Update 6:45 pm
My blood pressure readings at home all day have been great.  I made a follow-up appointment for next week with the nurse practitioner instead of my OB.

And when my doctor called this evening, I made Bryan talk to him.  But he was happy with the results of the non-stress test and my home monitoring.  So we are out of panic mode for now.
