After our first round of pitocin failed to do anything substantial, the doctor decided to stop for an hour before giving it another go. The second round of pitocin started around noon, and we waited through another whole dosage progression before calling it quits around 6. By this point we had resigned ourselves that we'd likely be staying another night. The kids will be staying with friends, and hopefully not making them crazy.
So the next step is another medicine, cervidil. This one normally takes 12 hours to work, after which we may try the pitocin again. That pretty much plots out our night. We'll have to see how it goes.
On the bright side, there seems to be a House marathon on, a show that Maura likes to watch. The doctor was scoffing at it, but it beats sitting around doing nothing, particularly since Maura finished the only book she brought a few hours ago.
